The News comes from Larry Naukam, President of Rochester Genealogical Society

The Church Records Preservation Committee of the Rochester Genealogical Society has digitized 250,000 pages of Monroe County church records, and also has done a trial project of making some town historian indexes available online. These are available for free at: http://crpc.nyrgs.org/

Also, the Rochester Churches Indexing Project has almost 200,000 names indexed from Rochester area church records. These also are available for free from the web iste: http://www.rcip.info/

Researchers are welcome to use these. The church record PDFs can be downloaded to your own computer. These projects will be talked about at the upcoming Western New York Genealogy Conference, a full-day event celebrating Western New York as a unique place of shared history and community.
